2011 brought many new faces to the Captain, but that did not scare him away. After 24 years of busting bridges he knows all the techniques to send students home with nothing but a broken bridge, and a loss of pride.
Peter Dimitroulias and Thomas Plammoottil, a couple 3rd year civil engineering students held onto an early lead to take home $2500 in tuition money from Hatch. Collin Cybulska and Alexandru Voinescu took home a $2000 tuition scholarship from the Hamilton District Heavy Construction Association for second place. Travis Vanderkooy and Will Bowes took home 3rd place overall, and $1500 tuition from Kenaidan. With an increase of money from many of our sponsors, we were able to give away $8700 worth of tuition scholarships and cash in the College event alone.
In the High School competition, our sponsors combined to give away $3700 worth of prizes. Top honours went to Julie Weisensee from Highland Secondary in Dundas. She took home the $1500 tuition sponsored by the Ancaster Optimist club. She was also fortunate enough to win the Best Performing Junior award and Best Junior Workmanship award for another $300 worth of cash prizes.
These students spent some time, built something to be proud of, and reaped the rewards. Next year, will it be YOU???
